National Unity Day (Rashtriya Ekta Diwas) is celebrated on 31st October every year to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a visionary freedom fighter-leader who played an important role in national integration after the independence of India.

The Social Service Committee of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research celebrated Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October, 2023 on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday. This year a week long Festival of Unity is being organized under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav leading up to this special day. The programs envisaged are also synced to the Pran of Unity which is part of ‘PanchPran’ articulated by the hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech.

The objective of the event is “Promotion of National Unity”. The primary aim of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is to reinforce the importance of national unity and integration. It serves as a reminder of the diverse cultural, linguistic, and regional identities that coexist in India, emphasizing the need for unity to maintain the nation’s integrity and to foster the spirit of unity.

On 31st October 2023, the PIMSR Social Service Committee celebrated National Unity Week in commemoration of Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel’s birth anniversary conducted slogan making competition for the PIMSR MMS students, along with the Pledge taking ceremony. The event aimed to raise awareness about the significance of national unity in building a stronger and more cohesive India as “Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat” (One India, Excellent India). The digital slogan-making competition for the first-year MMS students was conducted whereby each student was given 10-20 minutes to create a slogan using tools like Canva or Photoshop, whichever they found easier. The selected first three winners of the digital slogan making competition were awarded with the certificates.

Following the digital slogan-making competition, the pledge ceremony was undertaken and was attended by the PIMSR MMS students & Faulty. The aim of the pledge ceremony is to emphasize the commitment to unity and integrity. The pledge serves as a reminder of the responsibility that every citizen holds in maintaining the unity and security of the nation.

To conclude, the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas on 31st October, 2023 on the occasion of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birthday was organized, coordinated and successfully executed by the PIMSR MMS first year students, Ms. Panchsheela, Ms. Manasi, Ms. Tushara, Mr. Shubham, Mr. Abhilaash & Mr. Madhav.
