About the programme
NAAC’s aim is to make quality the defining element of higher education in India through a combination of self and external quality evaluation, promotion, and sustenance initiatives. It identifies the quality of the institute in terms of its education, research, faculty, infrastructure, etc., as well as giving students confidence that they are selecting a quality institution. It gives an institute instant credibility and increases its admissions.

Objectives of the programme:
Report – A Faculty Development Programme was organized on “NAAC-related preparation and documentation” for the faculty and staff of PiMSR on 29th June, 2022 at 10.30 a.m. Seventeen faculty and staff members attended the workshop. The resource person was Dr. Dharmadhikari N.S, Educationalist, NAAC and UGC Committee member. Dr. Dharmadhikari is a retired Principal and has been working in the educational field for the last 48 years as Principal, Director, Academic consultant, Educationalist. Propagating ancient Indian Mathematics (Invited for International Vedic Mathematics conference, New Delhi), delivering Guidance talks on Quality Enhancement related to NAAC in Higher Education, in India. He has been appointed as Quality Advisor by Times of India, Campus Technology, Bangalore) for Quality Enhancement and Quality Auditor by Ayush Mantralaya, New Delhi. He has received prestigious awards for extraordinary contribution in Higher Education from Bharat Shikshan Mandal, Mumbai. He was invited to an International conference at Atlanta (USA) and as a guest of Honour with Hon’ble Governor at Allahabad. He is an Ex Member – Senate and Academic Council of Universities in Maharashtra. He is also a guide for M.Phil. & Ph.D. students, published Research papers in Mathematics, published articles on Education in newspapers and magazines in English, Marathi and Hindi.

Dr. Dharmadhikari shared his experiences with an objective to educate and train faculty about NAAC new guidelines & upgrade about various Criteria and new metrics formed by NAAC which they have to fill in while submitting SSR also to share best practices that can be used for institutional development & provide a platform for interacting with various experts and discuss the problems and their solution for overall functioning and accreditation process of the institution. He shared tips that faculty members can inculcate to make the class engaging for students.

He gave a brief on each of the criteria:

  1. Curricular Aspects
  2. Teaching, Learning and Evaluation
  3. Research, Innovation and Extensions
  4. Infrastructure and Learning Resources
  5. Student Support and Progression
  6. Governance, Leadership and Management
  7. Institutional Values & Best Practices

The session ended with his sharing some anecdotes and experiences of teaching. On behalf of PIMSR, Dr. Chandran proposed the vote of thanks and felicitated Dr. Dharmadhikari.
