The Sales Carnival and Daan Utsav organized by our PGDM & MMS second year students of Batch 2023-25 provided a dynamic and engaging learning experience that brought theoretical concepts in sales management to life – a practical assignment in the subject of Sales Management, and the event was spearheaded by the Marketing Club and Social Services Committee of the institute. The event aimed to equip students with practical skills such as crafting persuasive sales pitches, managing team dynamics, and navigating the intricacies of running a small business. Through this hands-on approach, students gained valuable insights into the real-world applications of their studies.

Students were organized into groups, each tasked with developing a unique stall that showcased various food and non-food items. The planning process was both collaborative and educational, as students had to brainstorm product ideas and secure raw materials, work upon their investments and sales estimates. Their meticulous planning not only reflected their understanding of customer preferences but also highlighted the importance of data-driven decision-making.

On the day of the event, the campus buzzed with excitement as students set up their stalls. Each group creatively decorated their area, with colorful banners and enticing displays. Some groups brought home-made food items, whereas quite a few groups prepared fresh food items to serve the customers with fresh and hot eatables. A group selling handmade crafts demonstrated their products, showcasing the craftsmanship and explaining the stories behind each item. This personal touch resonated with customers, leading to meaningful interactions.

Throughout the day, students encountered various challenges that tested their problem-solving skills. One group faced an unexpected shortage of ingredients for their popular dish. Instead of panicking, they quickly brainstormed alternatives, engaging customers in the process. This adaptability not only salvaged their sales but also provided an excellent lesson in the importance of flexibility in business.

It is to be noted that a few of the stalls were organised by Social Services Committee of the college, wherein the entire sales proceeds of the day were donated to the committee which will be further used by social causes by the college. This event was named as Daan Utsav.

The learning outcomes from this carnival were significant. Students developed critical skills in teamwork, negotiation, and customer engagement. Many reflected on their experiences in post-event discussions, noting how the challenges they faced helped them grow.

In conclusion, the sales carnival was a resounding success, demonstrating the value of experiential learning in the field of marketing. The practical application of sales techniques, coupled with the camaraderie fostered among students, created a memorable and impactful experience. The event not only enriched the students’ learning but also brought the college community together in a celebration of creativity and entrepreneurship.
