The Research Monitoring Committee of PiMSR conducted a hour-long refresher Faculty Development Workshop on “How to Write a Research Paper” on Thursday, 17th March 2022. The objective of the session was to reiterate the various aspects of writing a research paper and tips for finding appropriate journals to publish the same. Dr. Bhavna Dave, Assistant Professor at Pillai College of Education & Research, New Panvel (W) conducted the session.

Dr. Bhavna Dave has a Ph.D. in Education & an M.A., M.Ed. from the University of Mumbai. She has carried out minor research projects sponsored by the University of Mumbai as well as many action researches. She is a research guide to three Ph.D. students and also guides the M.Ed. students for completing their research dissertation. She has been invited as a resource person for sessions for UGC-HRDC and has conducted workshops and taken sessions for teachers at various levels on Life-skills, Multiple Intelligence, Teaching-learning skills, among others. Dr. Dave has taken virtual sessions on important topics in English, as part of the Pilot study of ‘Virtual Classroom Project’ started by Sterlite Tech Foundation as CSR, in collaboration with Pearson Education Services for BMC schools, which was first of its kind in Mumbai. She has 12 years of teaching experience in Mahatma School of Academics & Sports, Panvel. She engages in many community service programs as a part of the college team. She has been a convener of National Level Seminars at the college and has many paper publications to her credit. She is the editor of Pillai Journal of Education and Research (PJERT), a biannual publication of the college with ISSN. Dr. Dave has written content for modules of e-text and interactive video on “Communication Technology” under e-PG Pathshala: A Gateway to all Post-Graduate Courses, a MHRD Project under the National Mission on Education through ICT (NME-ICT). She has recorded e-content for MOOC-SWAYAM, a project of the MHRD taken up by IDOL, University of Mumbai. She has been a speaker at the 1st National Teachers’ Congress organized by MAEER’s MIT Group of Institutions, Pune & supported by AICTE, Association of Indian Universities, Maharashtra Principal’s Federation and Government of Maharashtra. She has recently been awarded the IARDO Rising Star award-2021 as the ‘Best Performer in Education’.

The session was attended by 15 faculty members of PiMSR. Dr. Dave spoke about each aspect of a research paper emphasising the importance of finding a correct title for the research work. She spoke about the various sources for literature review and the significance of original writing. She shared tips on how to write the introduction, do the data analysis and summarize the research work in Conclusions and Recommendations. She also spoke about how to write the references.

The session was very useful especially for the new faculty who have joined PiMSR and appreciated by all. The webinar was organised by the Research committee members Dr. Anjali Bhute and Dr. Celina Joy.
