The popular fundraiser talent show, UBER RANG in association with Times of India was held in the evening on 2nd February, 2019 as the last activity in observance of Community Service Day. This talent show, in its seventh edition, is a platform for students to showcase their multifaceted talents to a large audience and generate funds for community service. The three-member jury consisted of Ms. Monica Nathiani, Business Head of Times NIE Mumbai Division, Mr. Tabrez Shaikh, Founder of the Tabrez Shaikh Acting Academy and Mr. Sanish Nair, noted singer, songwriter and the founder of the band “Euphony Official”. The event was a huge success as over 125 students showcased their unique talents to a packed audience of over 500 faculty, parents & students. The performances ranged from skits, singing and dancing to group performances in various forms viz. Indian fusion, western dance, classical performances, folk dances, band music etc. The winners were given trophies and cash prizes. The first prize in the school category (solo) was won by DPGA and in the college category was shared by PCACS and PHCACS. The winner in the group performance school category was Mahatma International School followed by runners up MSAS, Khanda whereas the group performance winners and runner up prizes were won by PCACS, Panvel. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO of the Pillai group of institutions mentioned that it was the philosophy of Mahatma Education Society to provide a platform for students to exhibit their talents and that too with a focus towards a charitable cause. He spoke about the students’ participation in various community development programs, which include teaching in the nearby villages, planting trees and actively participating in cleaning the environment.
