The IIC of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research organised a Session on “Lean Start-up & Mentoring Session” on 12th August, 2022 by Mr. Chandan Pandey, Co-founder and director at W.B. Hotels. He is a Rashtriya Udyog Awardee. His experience includes working with Oxygen Hospitality Consultancy Services as a CEO, Blue Rock Hospitality Venture Pvt. Ltd. and The Orchid & VITS as General manager. The objective of the session was to guide and mentor new startup ideas into successful businesses. Mr Pandey spoke about how he started his journey with WB Hotels and its various achievements over the years. He said that it was important to focus and achieve business revenue targets. Annual targets have to be broken into targets for months, weeks and even days to be achieved. Staying committed was the most important thing. He advised students to ever think of language as a barrier. He urged students to take bold decisions and not be afraid of failure. He then spoke about the concept of a lean start up. He spoke about this method that is used by new startups to introduce a new product or service on behalf of an existing company, This helps the startup to get traction with customers as they have already demonstrated the desire for the product. He also touched upon the great strides made by technology that enables businesses to scale up and be managed from one location.
