The Finance Club of Pillai Institute of Management Studies & Research organized a Panel Discussion on “Union Budget 2022” on 15th February, 2022. The session started with an inaugural message from the director Dr. R. Chandran. The event had student panelists who discussed the various topics that included key highlights of the budget, virtual digital assets, railways union budget, GST and PM Gati Shakti initiative.

The panel was moderated by Ms. Simran Pawar and the panelists of the session were Ms. PV Anjali, Mr. Varun patil, Mr. Aniket Rane, Mr. Apoorv Mahadik and Mr. Joshua Mathew. The session was attended in large numbers by MMS and MBA students of PiMSR. The discussion began its course by stressing upon the fiscal math of the budget and how the quality of expenditure has increased. With respect to the health sector, a change of perspective was presented by stating it to be extremely critical and productive for the economy and not just a social sector. The discussion also was directed to the current trend of decreasing allocation to the defense sector as a percentage of the GDP and this needs to be reassessed considering the present conditions. The pressing matters of the agricultural sector concerning MSP was addressed and availability of medium to motivate the farmers to shift from conventional to organic farming was clearly highlighted. The session concluded with a Q&A round for the students.
