Management Conclave on “Managing the Family-Managed Business – Scope for Professionals in Indian Family Businesses” in Association with AIFMB

The Students’ Activities (Co-curricular Committee) organised a One Day Management Conclave on Thursday, 10th January, 2019. The theme of the conclave was “Managing the Family-Managed Business – Scope for Professionals in Indian Family Businesses”. The conclave was conceptualised to establish an industry-institute interface that would enlighten the students about the plethora of opportunities present in Indian Family Businesses. On one hand family managed businesses drive economies around the globe but on the other hand they are grappling with difficulties of moving from a one-person general management approach to a professional management approach. This is the context in which this Management Conclave has been designed. Both first and second year students participated in the Conclave.

The Conclave witnessed eminent speakers from the area of family-managed businesses. Prof. Samish Dalal Associate Professor at S P Jain Institute and an active member of the AIFMB organisation was the key speaker and moderator of the panel discussion. In his key note address, Prof. Dalal emphasized the importance of family-managed businesses. He highlighted that family managed businesses are the growth drivers of the economy and that professionals must not fail to see the potential that it holds. The other panel members were Mr. Naman Kumar Jain, Operations Head at K. B. Products Pvt. Ltd., Ms. Surabhi Rao, Director at Narsipur Chemicals Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Virendra Yadav, Founder and Director at BU Solar Solutions, Ms. Jane Sha, founder of ZONE CFO. Each of the panelists enumerated the challenges faced by family managed business and also enlightened the students about how professionals could help family-managed businesses in furthering their horizons. The Conclave was well appreciated and attended by the faculty and students of PiMSR.
