IIC of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research organised an Idea Generation Workshop by Dr. Priam Pillai – Founder of Valectus Pvt. Ltd. on Friday, 17th September, 2021. It was conducted as a prelude to the Business Plan Competition 2021-22 announced by the Pillai Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Dr. Priam Pillai is the Founder of Valectus Pvt Ltd, a geospatial analytics firm, that won the Maharashtra State Innovation Society’s startup award in 2020. He is the Chief Operating Officer of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai group of institutions. He is the founding partner of the Urban Expansion Observatory, a joint research initiative in Geospatial technologies between Mahatma Education Society and New York University. He has a PhD in mechanical engineering from MIT. He founded the Pillai Center of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2015.
The objective of the Idea Generation workshop was to highlight the various aspects to be considered while starting out sustainable and scalable businesses. The Idea Generation Workshop began with Dr. Priam encouraging students to think of the various problems faced by society. He spoke about generating ideas that would be viable as businesses and encouraged students to think about uniqueness, feasibility and competition as well. It was an interactive session where more than 100 students and faculty participated and made it a fun workshop. Some students and faculty shared their ideas and a professional discussion over the steps to take an idea to a business took place over the same.
It was a great learning experience for students and an exciting experience for everybody present there. Students received a valuable insight as to how to think and generate ideas for startups. The session was hosted by MMS student Anushka Shinde.
