IIC of Pillai Institute of Management studies and Pillai College of Arts, Science and Commerce collaborated with IWFCI India to launch the second edition of the Global Trade Certificate program today, 12 January 2024, at Conclave 1, Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, Panvel. The objective of the program was to explore opportunities for entrepreneurship through global trade. This popular certificate course has gained traction since its inception last year and 112 participants have registered for this program. Dr. Celina Joy, Director of IWFCI and IIC Innovation Ambassador of PiMSR hosted the inaugural session and spoke about the contributions of IIC and IWFCI towards employment opportunities for participants. The certificate course curated by PiMSR will be conducted over 30 hours of in-person classes and end with a visit to JNPT Port Trust.

In her welcome speech, Dr. Daphne Pillai, Founder President of IWFCI India spoke about IWFCI and its objectives to promote entrepreneurship and encourage global trade for entrepreneurs. She said that the recent Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) was the catalyst to initiate this global trade certificate programme – India and Australia perspective. She ended her talk by speaking about the changing landscape for business leading to a plethora of opportunities for participants to explore and prosper. This was followed by a talk by Dr. R. Chandran, Director of PiMSR who spoke about India’s rise as a super power globally and the immense potential that courses such as these offer. He spoke about the importance of trade fairs and exhibitions for promoting business and to focus on launching strategies to start trade with another country. Dr. Kiran Deshmukh, Co-ordinator of this program shared a short video about the highlights of last year’ program and spoke about the program structure and contents. The program was attended by Dr. Gajanan Wader, Principal and Prof. Deepika Sharma, Vice Principal of Pillai College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Dr. Gopal and Dr. Rakshit of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research and Ms. Yvette Lee, Director of IWFCI India. The program ended with a vote of thanks to all. The program was attended by 72 students, 4 faculty members and 5 external guests.
