Student body of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research was proud to partner with Gurudwara Sahib Panvel in selflessly providing for the poor and homeless during the coronavirus pandemic.
Over 53 students and alumni of PiMSR alongwith volunteers of the Gurudwara provided food for 10000 people daily and risked their lives to make sure that the poor people of Panvel & Navi Mumbai don’t suffer from starvation during this crisis. The food distribution activity was undertaken across 12 different locations in Panvel & Navi Mumbai. The drive saw proactive participation from alumni, students, faculty and staff of the institute. The Gurudwara required 300kg of rice, 150 kg of dal and another 150 kg of atta every day to feed the needy. An amount of Rs. 3,50,000 was collected by the faculty and students of the Pillai Group of Institutions during the initial stage of the coronavirus pandemic in April 2020. These funds were used to provide free meals to the poor and migrant laborers who were stranded and living on the roadside in Navi Mumbai and Mumbai because of the lockdown.
