The Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research through its Social Service Committee organized an English language session on 26th February 2026 for the students of 8th Standard at Podi School. The session was conducted as part of the institute’s outreach initiative to enhance foundational language skills and encourage interactive learning among school students.

The primary objective of the session was to improve students’ proficiency in the English language and to promote active classroom participation. The focus was on strengthening reading skills, improving comprehension, enriching vocabulary, and building confidence in communication through structured and engaging activities.

The session commenced with a brief introduction by the MBA student volunteers to establish rapport and create a comfortable learning atmosphere. This was followed by a reading activity in which students read a lesson from their English textbook aloud. The lesson was explained clearly and systematically to help them understand the meaning, context, and key concepts. Emphasis was placed on correct pronunciation, clarity, and comprehension.

After the reading activity, a question-and-answer session was conducted where students actively participated and attempted to respond to questions related to the lesson. Each response was discussed and explained in detail to reinforce understanding and clarify doubts. To further enhance engagement, students were asked to share the meanings of words from the lesson and participated in a Word Chain game. These interactive activities strengthened their vocabulary skills, encouraged quick thinking, and boosted their confidence in responding.

The session was lively and participative, reflecting the students’ enthusiasm to learn. The key takeaways from the program included the importance of interactive and activity-based teaching methods in language learning, the value of reading aloud in improving fluency and comprehension, and the positive impact of encouragement in building student confidence. The initiative successfully contributed to enhancing the students’ English language skills in a meaningful and engaging manner.

The session was conducted by MBA students Ms. Tanishka Shinde, Ms. Rohini Kadam, Ms. Sredha Kurup, and Mr. Soham Patil, whose coordinated efforts ensured the smooth and effective execution of the program.
