Pillai Institute of Management and Research in Collaboration with Nirmala College organized a Campus Visit and Business Simulation Workshop on 10th October, 2023. The event aimed to provide students with an immersive learning experience and insights into the world of management. Ms. Avis D’Cona along with 20 students arrived at Pillai Institute of Management and Research for the event. The students were shown a brief video about life at PIMSR and Alegria. After watching the video the students were enthusiastic to know about the college and management related aspects. Dr. K. P. Gopal provided the opening remarks, offering guidance to the students as future managers. After that, Professor Satish Nair addressed the students, discussing the importance of business simulation and a few aspects on management. Professor Abhimanyu Roy explained about the plans for the upcoming Business Simulation workshop.
The Students were then taken to a campus tour in groups of 10 students per group and were shown the whole campus. Important areas covered were makers lab, Computer lab, Innovation cell, Placement Cell, Business Simulation Lab, Directors Cabin, Sports Ground, Gymkhana, Administration office. During the campus tour, the students exhibited a strong desire to learn more about the institute, and their feedback about the campus was overwhelmingly positive.
After Campus Tour Business Simulation workshop was conducted. Students were grouped into teams of Four. Students were enthusiastic and excited about the workshop. Professor Abhimanyu Roy introduced the students to the purpose of the Bizlab and provided guidance on various aspects of AIMA Bizlab games, including Human Resource, Operations, Finance, and Marketing. Students actively participated in the Bizlab game. Volunteers were available to assist students with any issues they encountered.
Following the workshop, the students were asked about the feedback of the workshop. There was a prize distribution ceremony, with certificates presented by Ms. Saraswati Chettiyar, Professor Satish Nair, Dr. Shailendra Pawaskar, and Dr. Ashish Tripati. The winners received special prizes and certificates. Dr. Shailendra Pawaskar felicitated Ms. Avis Dcona of Nirmal College for her efforts in bringing the students to the Campus.
Following the workshop, the students engaged in a lively and enjoyable session of rifle shooting, where they actively participated and had a great time.
The campus tour and business simulation workshop organized by Pillai Institute of Management and Research proved to be a highly successful event, offering students a valuable and immersive learning experience. It encouraged collaboration, the sharing of knowledge, and the development of practical skills. The active participation of both junior volunteers and senior faculty members from Pillai institute of Management and Research ensured the event’s smooth execution and its positive impact on the participating students. The event was coordinated by Prof. Satish Nair, Prof. Abhimanyu Roy, Prof. Pawaskar and Ms. Sarawathy Chettiar.
