Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research, New Panvel, organised its 9th Global Conference on ‘Sustainable Management Practices: Bridging Disciplines, Fostering Innovation’ on 7th December, 2024 at Dr K M Vasudevan Pillai Campus. Sustainability is essential to make business and economic activities viable, competitive and value driven. The objective of the conference was to find novel approaches that combine ecological integrity with economic viability and social equity to navigate the challenges of sustainable management practices.
The conference started with a welcome address by PiMSR Director, Dr R. Chandran who spoke about the theme of the conference and its importance in today’s fast paced world. This was followed by the address of Chief Guest Mr. Paul Eckard, President Sim Technologies Corporation, Ohio, United States who talked about global supply chain challenges and simulated decision qualification planning systems to make businesses sustainable. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Mahima Mishra, Associate Professor and Chair MBA program from Abu Dhabi School of Management talked about Business Resilience and Sustainability focusing on the triple bottom line and ESG model for businesses. A compilation of research papers written by students under the competent guidance of faculty members was published as a book titled ‘Multidimensional Perspectives in Modern Management’. After insightful discourse from eminent speakers, the research paper presentations started after the tea break.
There were 23 research papers altogether from various specializations. In the plenary session paper presentations were done by students, faculty members, educationists and industry practitioners. Multifaceted areas related to sustainability, diversity, inclusivity, modern trends, evolving practices were covered in research papers. The Moderators for the paper presentation were prominent academician, Dr. Elizabeth Mathew, retired Professor and Head Department of Commerce of Changu Kana Thakur Arts, Commerce and Science College, New Panvel and Dr. Vivekananda Pawar, Chairperson of the Research and Development Cell at PIMSR. The conference ended with felicitation ceremony of the guests, prize distribution ceremony for summer internship best projects, Vote of Thanks, networking, photo session and lunch. The Global Conference became a melting pot of discussions by research scholars, educationists, industry practitioners and knowledge workers who shared their valuable ideas, work of interest, research based studies, new developments in science, commerce and business and made the day intellectually enriching. The conference was attended by 94 students, 10 faculty members and 15 paper presenters off line and 12 paper presenters online.
