Around 150 students of PiMSR enthusiastically participated in the Tree Plantation Initiative and a River Cleaning Initiative on 11th January, 2020. The main aim of the drive was to raise awareness on the need to save the environment and plant more trees to negate the harmful effects of deforestation. Aniket, a student of PiMSR took the lead and explained the harmful effects of deforestation to the environment. After the talk, the students planted saplings in the CIDCO garden, Sector 16, New Panvel and Podi Visarjan Ghat, sector 15, New Panvel. More than 50 saplings were planted on that day. The programme concluded with all participants taking an oath to nurture the trees and protect the environment. The chief guest for the event were Tejas Kandpile, Panvel Municipal Corporation (PMC) Corporator; former Corporator Subhash Bhujbal; Gourav Hingane, Assistant Engineer with CIDCO Panvel; Shailesh Gaikwad, health inspector at PMC; Arun Kamble, Sanitary Inspector PMC; and Rakesh Bhujbal of PMC. Faculty members Dr. Celina Joy and Dr. Betty Sibil felicitated the guests.
