Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PIMSR), in partnership with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur, organized the Soroptimist Excellence Award on the occasion of International Women’s Day, held on 3rd March, 2025.
The program commenced with an introduction to the esteemed guest, Ms. Honey Thalijieh, Public Relations Manager at FIFA and the founding captain of the Palestinian Women’s Football Team by Dr. Celina Joy (Past President of SIBC and Faculty member at PiMSR)The event highlighted the achievements of various activities carried under Soroptimist International, presented by the counselors of Pillai’s Institute.
Dr. Daphne Pillai, Founder President of Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur (SIBC), addressed the audience and honored Ms. Honey Thalijieh with a citation and a trophy, recognizing her outstanding contributions to sports and women’s empowerment.
In an inspiring address to students from PIMSR, PCE, PCACS, and PICA, Ms. Honey shared her remarkable journey—from overcoming societal challenges in Bethlehem to breaking barriers in international football. She spoke about how football became her support system and a platform for empowerment, reinforcing that the sport represents hope, freedom, identity, resilience, and determination.
The session was attended by students and faculty from Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, making it a truly enriching and motivational experience for all.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Betty Sibil, Academic Head and Associate Professor at PIMSR, expressing gratitude to Ms. Honey Thalijieh, the organizers, faculty members, and students for making the event a grand success.
