Under Project PANKH, the Social Service Committee of PIMSR organized an educational outreach session on English Reading and General Knowledge for the students of Zilla Parishad Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, Podi, on 20th January 2026. The session was conducted with the objective of supporting the academic development of school students by strengthening their language proficiency and general awareness.
The session was designed keeping in mind the importance of English language skills and basic general knowledge in shaping students’ overall academic performance. Students from the 6th and 8th standards participated in the session. The learning environment was kept interactive, inclusive, and student-friendly to encourage active participation and effective understanding.
The session commenced with English reading practice from the students’ prescribed textbooks. Students were encouraged to read passages aloud, after which the facilitators explained the meanings of difficult words and sentences in simple language. This activity helped the students improve their reading fluency, pronunciation, and comprehension skills. Special attention was given to ensuring that students felt confident while reading and were able to understand the content clearly.
Following the reading activity, the students were introduced to basic General Knowledge concepts. The topics covered included common facts related to daily life, environmental awareness, and current affairs. Oral questioning was used as a teaching method to stimulate curiosity, logical thinking, and participation among the students. This approach also helped assess their existing knowledge and encouraged them to think critically while responding.
To further enhance engagement, an activity-based General Knowledge exercise was conducted. Students were asked to answer simple GK questions, which helped strengthen their recall ability and reinforced their learning in an enjoyable manner. The interactive nature of the activity ensured that students remained attentive and actively involved throughout the session.
The students responded positively and participated enthusiastically in all the activities conducted during the session. The interactive teaching methodology was well received, and students expressed interest and confidence while engaging in reading and GK exercises. The session was successful in creating a supportive learning atmosphere that motivated students to participate without hesitation.
Overall, the session proved to be informative and effective in enhancing the English reading skills and General Knowledge of the students. It contributed positively to their academic growth and reinforced the importance of foundational learning. The initiative reflected PIMSR’s commitment to social responsibility and community engagement through meaningful educational interventions under Project PANKH.
