The students of the Social Service Committee of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research as part of “Project Pankh” 2024-2025, conducted a session on 17th December, 2024 on enhancing the basic and fundamental elementary English language skills of 5th, 6th, and 7th-grade students from Zilla Parishad Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School in Podi, New Panvel.
The session included a revision of antonyms and a review of the students’ English reading skills. An interactive session was also conducted in the form of quizzes and games on basic grammar rules related to verbs and vowels, in which the students were actively engaged. These exercises were designed to improve the retention and public reading skills of 6th-grade students.
The session for the 5th grade focused on introducing themselves, helping students learn to express themselves confidently and clearly through personal introductions, thereby developing essential communication and social skills. The students also learned the use of conjunctions, understanding their role in connecting ideas and creating complex sentences, which enhanced their writing fluency and grammatical accuracy. Additionally, they were taught ascending and descending order, helping them develop a strong foundation in number sense by learning to arrange numbers in both ascending and descending order. This skill is crucial for various mathematical operations and problem-solving.
The 7th-grade students were taught the concept of inverse proportion, which helps them understand how changes in one variable affect another in an opposite manner.
The session was conducted by MMS students: Mr. Anirudh Virakan, Mr. Saurabh Pingale, Ms. Siddhi Vijay, and Ms. Avantika Khodke.
