As part of Project ‘PANKH’, the Social Service Committee of PIMSR conducted an engaging session on Basic English Communication and Reading Skills on 6th November, 2025 for students of 7th and 8th standard at Zilla Parishad Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, Podi.
The objective of the session was to strengthen the students’ foundational skills in English communication, reading, and vocabulary, while fostering their confidence in using the language in everyday situations. Recognizing the importance of communication in academics and personality development, the workshop created a supportive and motivating environment where students could freely express themselves.
The session began with an introductory activity where the students confidently introduced themselves in English, showcasing their willingness to learn. This was followed by interactive reading exercises aimed at enhancing pronunciation, comprehension, and vocabulary building. To make learning enjoyable, the facilitators incorporated educational games based on alphabets and multiplication tables, which not only reinforced the concepts but also encouraged teamwork and creative thinking.
The students enthusiastically participated in all the activities and expressed great joy in learning through this interactive format. The session concluded with positive feedback from the students, who appreciated the fun and engaging teaching methods.
The workshop was successfully conducted by MMS student Ms. Haritha Menon, and MBA students Mr. Vedant Janvalekar, Ms. Aswathi Pillai, and Mr. Pranay Kurup. The key takeaway from the session was that learning can be made enjoyable and effective through interactive methods, and that even basic communication skills, when nurtured early, can build strong academic and personal confidence among young learners.
