The MMS and PGDM courses run by PiMSR are comprehensive degree programs which prepares our students to face the corporate world in a holistic manner. This seminar has been organized with the main aim of providing a forum for students to listen to some leading personalities who are also inspiring speakers and learn from their experiences.

Dr. Vijayaragavan, the Director of this Institute and an ardent believer of experiential learning methodologies inaugurated the seminar with a welcome address to the gathering and set the tone for the seminar. The schedule for the seminar had three inspirational personalities who shared their expertise on the challenges and opportunities of doing business in a global environment.

The first speaker was Dr. Priam Pillai, the COO of Mahatma Education Society, followed by Mr. Aubrey Lobo, President and CEO of International Maritime and Aviation, followed by Mr. Arun Banavali, Vice President-Sourcing and Supply Chain, Hindustan Construction Limited.

The topic of Dr. Priam Pillai’s lecture was “Global Management Practices” and he drew a lot of comparisons to business practices in US, India and shared with the audience his experiences of observing business being conducted in Lamington Road, Mumbai. He spoke about the importance of being flexible and said that flexibility will be the main differentiator in achieving success in business.

Mr. Aubrey Lobo showed a short film on his company and spoke about the challenges of the shipping and logistics industry in the global world today. He spoke on the topic “Global Challenges and Opportunities in Shipping and Logistics”.

Our third speaker for the day is Mr. Arun Banavali spoke on the topic “Challenges and Opportunities in Large Engineering Construction Projects – India and Abroad”. He showed the audience a film on the construction of the Petronas Towers in Malaysia and drew a lot of parallels to the challenges and obstacles faced by large projects in India.

The students had an enriching experience and learnt a lot about the global scenario today and the challenges faced by business in this changing business environment.
