The inauguration ceremony of the MMS Batch of 2021-23 was conducted at the Auditorium of Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus on 3rd January, 2022. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Nikhil Gosain, Senior Marketing Executive at Godrej Agrovet Ltd. and the Guest of Hounor was Ms. Jimmy Doshi Assistant Vice President – Channel Relations, Sales and Operations at NxtDigital Ltd. The program began with the lighting of the lamp and the invocation prayer. The student hosts for the event were MBA students, Ms. Shivani and Ms. Manal. They welcomed the incoming students to the lively, challenging, diverse and warm community at PIMSR. They gave an introduction to the history of PIMSR and ended by showing the video of the prestigious collaboration with FIFA and CIES that has resulted in PIMSR offering the prestigious PILLAI/FIFA/CIES Executive Programme in Sports Management. This was followed by a video of the 20 year anniversary celebration video of PIMSR.
It was then time for the Welcome Address by Director Dr. R. Chandran. In his speech he encouraged the students to have a curious mindset and take full advantage of the knowledge and experience of the esteemed faculty members. He urged them to use the various facilities of the campus and have a holistic learning mindset.
The next speaker was Guest of Honour, Ms. Jimmy Doshi, Asst. Vice President – Channel Relations, Sales and Operations at NxtDigital Ltd. – a Media Company of the Hinduja Group with an annual turnover of 200 Crores. She leads a team of 130 plus senior sales and operations associates. Her role involves managing relations with Broadcasters like Star, Zee, Colours, Sony, handling 750 plus channels, 50 plus distributors, 1700 plus channel partners across various digital platforms. She is an MBA with 22 years of work-experience in Channel Relation Management, Digital Media, Broadband Services, and Logistics & Supply Chain among others, thereby, driving the Revenues, Profits and Brand-Share to grow year on year. She has helped in growing the market share of many brands like BIBA, Mac, Revlon, Cartier, Swarovski, Maybelline, Pepsodent, etc. She is also an alumni of PIMSR.
In her speech, Ms. Doshi shared her motivational story through various anecdotes with life lessons for the students. She shared her experiences at PIMSR and the valuable learnings it offered. She encouraged students to grab the opportunities that come their way and work hard for their careers. This was followed by the address by the Chief Guest, Mr. Nikhil Gosian. Mr. Gosain has a Bachelors degree in Biotechnology and an MBA in Marketing. After his MBA he pursued a career in digital marketing based in Bangalore. Post that he began a career in Agri sales at Karnal, Haryana. In December 2017 he moved to Mumbai to work in the Marketing department of Godrej Agrovet.
After the Inaugural session, the Course Coordinator of the MMS batch 2023, Dr. Shaheda Shaikh gave a brief introduction to the course and explained the code of conduct to be followed at the campus. This was followed by an presentation by MBA students, Poulomi Laha & Prashobh Prabha who introduced the faculty of PIMSR. They spoke about the passionate and professional faculty who facilitate a positive learning platform with creativity and a lot of fun. This was followed by lunch and a short Campus Tour for all the students.
The post lunch session had presentations on the various co curricular and extra curricular activities at PIMSR. The students are encouraged to don leadership roles by being part of these committees and conduct various events. MMS students, Sayali, Karishma and Akash and MBA students Poulomi, Aksh and Prashobh made the presentations. The session ended with the video on the Campus festival Alegria. After this faculty member, Dr. Roopam Gosian give instructions for the next day’s session. The day ended with the Vote of Thanks to all present and blessings for a bright future ahead.
