Dr. P. Shekhar, The founder of the first Software Technology Park in India, Chairman of MicroTech Global Foundation, a renowned author and the man behind developing the concept of ‘Secured Governance’ was invited to deliver a Guest Lecture on for management students on “Secured Governance – An Innovative System for 100 Smart Cities Mission” at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel.

Dr. Shekhar in his speech emphasized on secured governance and its need in urbanization. According to him secured governance is the strategy for the government to get all the basic infrastructure development with a negligible investment by the government. He said that government would develop these smart cities with a view that these cities should be near rural areas to reduce the pressure on already developed cities by rural population migration. The purpose of development of these smart cities is increasing job opportunities, skill enhancement and application oriented employment to be made available to rural and semi urban population. He talked about public private partnerships in building these cities and emphasized on setting up hubs, mini-hubs and Nano-hubs in the country in the fields of tourism, transport, agriculture, healthcare, energy, education, sports and so on. He encouraged the students to be a part of the project and contribute to the development of the nation.
