On 9th October 2025, as part of Project PANKH, the Social Service Committee of PIMSR conducted an Educational Session on Basic English Grammar and Vocabulary for the students of Zilla Parishad Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, Podi. The session was organized and conducted by MMS students — Mr. Nawaz Shaikh, Ms. Siddhi Vijay, Ms. Sredha Kurup, and Mr. Harshawardhan Shelke. The primary objective of this activity was to strengthen the importance of learning through fun-filled, interactive methods and to enhance the communication skills and confidence of school students from rural backgrounds.
The session was designed for students of the 7th and 8th standards, focusing on improving their grammar, vocabulary, and reading abilities. The 8th standard students began with an English grammar quiz on tenses — past, present, and past participle — which helped them recall and apply concepts from their syllabus. This was followed by a vocabulary-building game involving identifying names of animals and colours, and a simple math-based activity that integrated addition and multiplication in an enjoyable format. For the 7th standard students, the focus was on reading comprehension and vocabulary development. They enthusiastically participated in reading the story “Tiny Tinny Pots”, followed by exercises on synonyms and antonyms, and engaging word games that reinforced new vocabulary and improved recall.
The objectives of these activities were to encourage active participation, improve memory retention, enhance word recognition, and develop an interest in learning English through interactive methods. The students responded with enthusiasm, energy, and curiosity, appreciating the interactive and playful approach of the session. Their excitement and eagerness to learn reflected the success of the initiative in creating a joyful and meaningful learning environment.
For the MMS student volunteers, the experience was equally enriching. They gained valuable insights into classroom interaction, child engagement techniques, and the importance of experiential learning in social outreach. The session fostered a sense of social responsibility, empathy, and teamwork among the volunteers, while also helping them strengthen their communication and leadership skills.
Overall, the visit to Podi School under Project PANKH proved to be a heart-warming and educational experience — one that created a lasting impact on both the school students and the MMS volunteers through shared learning, compassion, and joy.
