The students of Mahatma Education Society’s Pillai Institute of Management Studies & Research (PiMSR) conducted a Debate titled “Point-Counter Point” on 19th November, 2016 at the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus. The issues chosen for the debate were the three current trending topics in India and the world today viz. Tata v/s Mistry, Trump v/s Clinton and Impact of Demonetization. The debate was moderated by Dr. R. Chandran, Global Business Strategist and was mentored by Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai, CEO of the Pillai Group of Institutions.

The students on the Tata v/s Mistry debate covered various issues of culture, leadership, business ethics, corporate governance and the role of independent directors, the Trump v/s Clinton teams heatedly debated the issues of Immigration, jobs for the Americans, Defence, Climate Change and the relations that America shares with other nations. The Debate on Demonetization covered topics of the future of the Indian Economy, corruption, terrorism, immediate inconvenience to the public, black money and the impact of demonetization on small and large business. The event was a fun-filled learning experience as each student got a chance to communicate his or her views on the subject. Dr. R. Chandran excellently moderated the debate and shared thought provoking dimensions to the various topics. Four students were adjudged as the winners of the debate on the parameters of Quality of Content, Uniqueness of thought, Analysis of the issue and Speech Delivery and were given prizes.
