Our college had the privilege of hosting a Debate Competition organized by the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) on the theme “Vigilance is Our Shared Responsibility.” The event provided a wonderful platform for students to express their thoughts, enhance their communication skills, and gain valuable insights into the importance of vigilance and ethical conduct in society.
The competition received an overwhelming response with over 150 students participating in the first screening round conducted on 8th October 2025. Participants were shortlisted based on their clarity of thought, confidence, and originality of ideas. From these, 12 finalists were selected for the final round held on 9th October 2025, which was divided into two categories — one team speaking in favour and the other against the topic.
These rounds encouraged healthy competition and helped participants develop essential skills such as teamwork, research ability, and critical thinking. Preparing for the debate also fostered collaboration among students and deepened their understanding of the theme “Vigilance is Our Shared Responsibility.”
The final debate witnessed energetic and thought-provoking discussions from both sides, showcasing excellent articulation and presence of mind. The event was judged by Prof. Mangesh Malusare, our respected faculty member, who served as the internal judge, along with an esteemed panel of dignitaries from ONGC, including:
- Shri S. J. Rao, CGM, Head – Vigilance, ONGC, Mumbai
- Shri Dilip Sharma, GM
- Shri Shashi Prakash, GM
- Shri Kaushal Agrawal, CE
- Shri Debajyoti Sarkar, CG
Their presence and insightful remarks made the event highly engaging and meaningful. The dignitaries shared valuable experiences and emphasized the role of vigilance, transparency, and ethical behavior in ensuring organizational and societal progress.
We were also honored by the presence of Dr. Nivedita Ma’am, Director (PR), Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research, who addressed the gathering and guided the students. She highlighted the institute’s strong and cordial relationship with ONGC and encouraged students to continue participating in such intellectually enriching initiatives. Her presence added immense value to the event and inspired students to uphold the principles of integrity and responsibility in their professional journey.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our Placement Manager, Ms. Shipra Lal, for her continuous support and coordination, and to ONGC for organizing this insightful event on our campus.
The Debate Competition was a grand success, providing an enriching and memorable experience for all. It not only enhanced students’ awareness about vigilance but also strengthened their sense of responsibility as ethical and conscientious citizens.
