Daan Utsav, is a celebration that encourages compassion, generosity, and the spirit of giving. On 11th November 2025, the Social Service Committee of Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research, in association with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur, organized a meaningful and engaging event. The primary objective of this initiative was to encourage acts of kindness while inspiring students to embrace social responsibility and contribute actively to the welfare of the community. The event served as a platform for students to display creativity, collaborate in teams, and understand the impact of collective efforts in supporting social causes. The event was inaugurated by our esteemed Director, Dr. R. Chandran, who visited each stall, offering words of encouragement and commending students for their creativity and commitment.
Event Highlights: A variety of stalls, managed entirely by students, showcased diverse interest and themes. Key highlights included:
- Fizzy Fundraizers: Refreshing sodas and customizable fizzy drinks were available, with classic, fruity and unique flavor blends.
- Fun and Funraising: Featuring engaging games and activities, this stall created a lively, competitive atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
- Cakes & Ties: A charming stall offering a mix of freshly baked cakes alongside fun tie accessories, bringing together style and sweetness for everyone to enjoy.
- MBA Paav Bhaji: Serving a delicious and flavour-packed paav bhaji prepared with rich spices and buttery pav, this stall won hearts with its authentic taste and warmth.
- Doritos Chaat: A quirky fusion twist on traditional chaat, combining crunchy Doritos with tangy chutneys, veggies, and spices for a bold, flavorful snack experience.
- Coffee House: Offering freshly brewed coffees, soothing cold beverages, and aromatic blends, this stall created a cozy space for conversation and comfort.
Commitment to Hygiene
Each stall prioritized cleanliness and hygiene, with students implementing effective waste disposal systems and handling food with care, including the use of gloves and hair caps.
Faculty and staff actively participated in the event, enjoying the offerings and engaging with students. Their support fostered a positive atmosphere, and many expressed pride in the students’ dedication and creativity.
Impact and Contributions
By the end of the event, students were delighted to discover that their collective efforts had helped raise Rs. 21,855. Upholding the essence of Daan Utsav, this amount was contributed to the Soroptimist Welfare Association, an NGO working for the upliftment of women and girls. Through this initiative, the students showcased their dedication towards creating a positive and meaningful difference in society.
Conclusion
Daan Utsav 2025 at PIMSR was a resounding success, bringing together students, faculty, and staff in a meaningful celebration of generosity and community spirit. The event offered students a valuable, hands-on platform to apply and understand key management principles and theories in a real-world setting. Through the planning and execution of their stalls, students gained practical experience in planning, organising, strategizing, forecasting, decision-making, and execution. The dynamic environment also helped them develop critical competencies such as stress management, conflict management, and problem-solving. Overall, the event not only strengthened their managerial abilities but also reinforced the importance of becoming socially responsible and community-oriented citizens.
