Date: 21st August 2025
Venue: Dr. K.M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus

As part of the ongoing social relevance initiatives at Pillai Institute of Management Studies and Research (PIMSR), a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between PIMSR and CRY (Child Rights and You) on 21st August 2025. This strategic collaboration marks the launch of the Social Relevance Project Internship Program, aimed at fostering mutual growth and social impact.

Purpose of Collaboration:
The partnership seeks to build a strong base of student volunteers and interns who will actively work for the welfare of underprivileged children, advocate for child rights, and engage in both online and on-field initiatives aligned with CRY’s vision. In return, the institute benefits by providing students with real-world exposure, perspectives on social justice, and opportunities to develop leadership and advocacy skills.

Awareness Session Highlights:
Following the MoU signing, an insightful Awareness Session on Child Rights was conducted on campus by Ms. Pallavi Yedekar, Senior Manager – CRY West Region. The session was held under the guidance of Dr. Krushna R Sawant and Dr. Celina Joy faculty coordinators for the initiative. Ms. Yedekar shared CRY’s inspirational journey, founded in 1979 by Rippan Kapur, and its evolution into a national movement. CRY currently partners with over 100 NGOs across 19 states, positively impacting the lives of over 4 million children. The discussion emphasized CRY’s core focus areas:

  • Education
  • Healthcare
  • Protection
  • Child Participation

Ms. Yedekar also introduced students to various engagement opportunities, including:

  • Volunteering for awareness campaigns
  • Fieldwork-based internships
  • Acting as ambassadors for CRY and its mission

These roles allow students to develop empathy, leadership, and civic responsibility, while contributing to long-term social transformation.

The session was informative, inspiring, and aligned with PIMSR’s mission of holistic student development through socially relevant engagement. The collaboration with CRY is set to empower PIMSR’S MBA students as change agents, equipping them with the tools and values needed to build a more just and equitable society for children.
