Students from the Social Service Committee of PIMSR volunteered for “Building an Inclusive Community: PIMSR Participation in Funtoosh”. A heart-warming and inclusive social outreach event organized on 21 December 2025 at Don Bosco School Campus, Sector – 42A, Seawoods, Navi Mumbai. Funtoosh aimed to create a joyful, safe, and engaging environment for children with autism and their families, bringing together educators, psychologists, therapists, media representatives, members of the film industry, and community volunteers to promote awareness and acceptance of children with special needs.
The event witnessed the participation of approximately 600–700 autistic children along with their parents, making it a large-scale and impactful community initiative.
The student volunteers from PIMSR played a significant role in ensuring the smooth execution of the programme by assisting in registrations, guiding and monitoring children across the venue, supporting them during games and recreational activities, helping with the distribution of food and water, assisting children in locating washrooms, and extending support to parents whenever required.
Through continuous interaction with children with special needs, the volunteers demonstrated patience, empathy, and responsibility, while also gaining valuable experiential learning that strengthened their communication skills, teamwork, leadership abilities, and sensitivity towards inclusive practices.
The event deepened their understanding of social responsibility and highlighted the importance of community engagement beyond classroom learning. Funtoosh aligned strongly with the institution’s objective of holistic student development and social outreach, offering students an opportunity to practice human values in real-life situations while bringing happiness and meaningful engagement to children and their families.
Overall, the event was successfully conducted and proved to be a rewarding and enriching experience for the student volunteers, reinforcing the significance of inclusive initiatives and community-based learning.
