The PIMSR Library proudly hosted “Book Exhibition”, showcasing an extensive collection of literary works across diverse genres, particularly focusing on management and related topics, to ignite curiosity and foster a love for reading among students and faculty. The event began with Professor Prasenjit K. Yesambare, who skillfully compared the session, highlighting the importance of reading, discussing the significance of “Vachan Pandharvada”, and introducing the “Book Review Contest” that aimed to encourage critical analysis and appreciation of literature.
The Book Exhibition and the contest were inaugurated by our esteemed Director, Dr. R. Chandran, who emphasized the value of critical thinking, articulate expression through literature, and the importance of reading in today’s digital age, including the influence of social media on reading habits. Following the inauguration, Dr. Celina Joy delivered an insightful review of the book Zero to One by Peter Thiel and Blake Masters, while Professor Subhendu Bhattacharya captivated the audience with his engaging review of Freakonomics by Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner.
After the reviews, Ms. Tejaswini Karkhanis, the Librarian, addressed the students present at the event, highlighting the importance of reading and encouraging them to cultivate a lifelong habit of exploring the world through books. Her words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the role of literature in broadening horizons and enhancing understanding.
At the conclusion of the session, Professor Vijay Karvande presented the vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to all contributors for making the event a success.
The aim of the event was to promote reading habits and foster a culture of literary appreciation among students, which was successfully achieved. Following this, the students explored the books displayed in the exhibition and participated in a group reading session in the library, fostering a shared appreciation for literature and learning.
