Report on SIP Workshop: Quantitative Techniques in Research
A Student Internship Project (SIP) Workshop was conducted on 7th July, 2025 on the topic “Quantitative Techniques in Research”, facilitated by Prof. Subhendu Bhattacharya. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 123 students.

Prof. Bhattacharya delivered an insightful session on the application of quantitative techniques for analyzing data collected during internship projects. He explained the types of data, the importance of determining an appropriate sample size, and demonstrated manual calculations using Excel as well as the Data Analysis Toolpak for both descriptive and inferential statistics.
Additionally, the students were introduced to JASP software as a user-friendly tool to perform statistical analysis effectively. The session comprehensively covered the entire process of applying quantitative techniques, equipping students with the necessary skills to analyze and interpret their research data accurately.
The workshop was highly engaging and provided students with practical knowledge and confidence to handle the data analysis component of their projects.
In addition, Dr. Shikha Singh addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the SIP timeline and taking the process seriously. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where students’ queries were addressed, ensuring clarity and direction as they begin their research journey. This workshop laid a strong foundation for the upcoming sessions in the SIP Workshop Series.
