Pillai Institute of Management Studies & Research organized the 8th Global Conference on the theme “Advancements in Management Practices and Research” on 30th September, 2023, in an online mode at Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus, New Panvel. The objective of this international conference was to discuss the emerging trends in the management field and the research taking place across interrelated disciplines. 200 plus participants from industry and academia attended the event. Ms. Ann Phua, President & Founder, Hemispheres Foundation was the Chief Guest and Mr. Carl Rasmus Häggkvist, Co-founder @ Skoolie | TikTok creator was the Guest of Honour. Ms. Ann Phua is an environmentalist, Humanitarian, Philanthropist, and a serious social entrepreneur. She was the founder and the immediate past chairman of IWFCIS (Singapore) the President and Co-Founder and the business women and the Director and Founder of Hope Villages Fund. Mr. Rasmus Haggkvist is the TikTok Education Content Creator with more than 1 Lakh followers and 30 Lakh Likes. His organisation helps students find their dream university and provides a college admissions marketplace for personal aid with the application process.

Dr. Betty Sibil, Convenor of the conference, in her opening remarks spoke about the various initiatives of the institute especially in the area of research. Dr. Anjali Bhute, Chairperson of the PRDC gave an introduction of the theme of the conference and its expected outcomes. Dr. Celina Joy, member of PRDC welcomed the audience with an introduction to the parent body, MES and introduced the guests for the day. Ms. Ann Phua made a thought provoking presentation on Change Management and encouraged the audience to embrace and adapt to change for survival. Mr. Haggkvist made an enlightening presentation on “Efficient Management Practices Utilising Artificial Intelligence (AI).

It was a day jam-packed with insightful learning, interesting discussions and creative ideas. The conference saw research paper presentations in different management tracks. Authors from various universities presented their research work in the emerging trends of management applications and practices. Dr. Vivekananda Pawar moderated the student research paper presentations and Dr. Pushpendu Rakshit hosted the student paper presentations. The presentations were moderated by Dr. Nithya Vargese, Principal at Western College of commerce and business management. The conference was coordinated by Dr. Celina Joy, Dr. Betty Sibil and Dr. Anjali Bhute. The conference was energized with a team of student presenters Shawna Agrawal, Yash Shetty, Anushka Sawant, Rohan Mishra, Gandhar Tandel, Anand Nair, OM YADAV, Aridha Ashokan and Sahil Akbar Shaikh.
