The MBA Department organized an engaging and interactive Survival Game Activity for around 250 MBA students in the auditorium. The session was conducted by Prof. Anil Jadwani with the aim of improving student’s decision making, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.

The activity was based on a real-life survival situation. Students were given a worksheet describing a scenario in which a small plane had crashed in Northern Canada during winter. The group had survived the crash and had to decide which of the 12 available items would be most useful for survival until rescue arrived.

The activity was completed in different stages. In the first stage, each student ranked the 12 survival items individually based on their own thinking and judgment. This encouraged independent decision-making.

In the second stage, students discussed their ideas with their group members and prepared a common group ranking. This stage helped students understand different viewpoints and improve their communication and teamwork skills.

In the third stage, two groups came together and discussed their rankings to prepare another common ranking. Students shared their opinions, listened to others, and worked together to reach a final decision.

After completing the group discussions, the expert ranking was revealed. Students compared their individual and group rankings with the expert ranking. They also calculated the difference between their answers and the expert’s answers to understand how close their decisions were to the ideal solution.

The activity highlighted the importance of teamwork over individual thinking. Students realized that discussing ideas with others often leads to better decisions. They also learned the value of logical thinking, leadership, cooperation, and effective communication while solving problems under pressure.

Overall, the Survival Game Activity was informative, enjoyable, and highly interactive.

Learning – I learned from the event that it helps students to improve learning and helps to develop management skills that are useful in both professional and personal life.
