Session on “Building English and Basic Mathematics Skills through Learning and Practice”

The Pillai Institute of Management Studies & Research (PIMSR), New Panvel, continues its commitment to creating meaningful learning opportunities for school children through the Social Service Committee’s community engagement initiatives. As part of Project PANKH, the Social Service Committee Team of PIMSR conducted a learning session on 10th September 2026 for the students of Zilla Parishad Gyan Jyoti Savitribai Phule School, Podi. The session focused on strengthening the students’ basic English Grammar and Mathematics skills.

The session began with English Grammar, where the students were taught Nouns and Pronouns, along with their different types, using simple examples. They also learnt how to form, read, and speak simple sentences through practice. The session encouraged the students to develop a better understanding of basic grammar concepts and use them in everyday communication.

The session also covered Basic Mathematics, including the four basic operations—Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division—through simple questions and examples for practice. The activities helped the students understand and practise these fundamental mathematical concepts in an engaging and accessible manner.

Towards the end of the session, the volunteers checked the students’ notebooks and reviewed their work. Mistakes were explained and corrected, giving the students an opportunity to improve their understanding and practise correctly.

The students remained curious, attentive, and actively involved throughout the session. The combination of English learning, speaking and reading practice, and basic Mathematics made the session useful and enjoyable for the students.

The session helped the students improve their basic English grammar, sentence formation, reading and speaking skills, while also strengthening their understanding of basic mathematical operations. The activities encouraged active participation, confidence, and learning through practice.

The session was conducted by the MBA student volunteers Mr. Niraj Patil, Mr. Harshwardhan Shelke, and Ms. Charmi Chandra.
