The PiMSR Research and Development Committee organized a Management Leadership Conclave on the topic “Leaders Walk The Talk” on 1st July, 2023 from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Auditorium of the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus. Leadership today in the ever-changing global scenario is a complex and dynamic concept that requires adaptability, flexibility, and resilience. Leaders need to have the ability to anticipate and react to both internal and external changes, as well as the capacity to create and maintain a culture of innovation and agility within their organizations. The session was attended by 82 participants including 12 faculty members.

The first session was handled by Dr. Radhakrishnan Pillai, Teacher of Chanakya Neeti, Best Selling Author, TED x and Josh Talks Speaker, Corporate Trainer, Chief Leadership Coach at Chanakya Aanvikshiki Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. He spoke on Chanakya’s 7 Secret Leadership Mantras. Dr. Pillai is an author of 16 books, speaker, guide, coach, mentor and a leader of International Repute. The shared some leadership mantras to both corporate and academics during his session.

The second session was handled by Mr. Sudhanshu Mani, Father of Vande Bharat Trains is the mastermind behind India’s first modern semi-high speed train, popularly known as the ‘Vande Bharat Express’ across regions, India. Mr. Mani is an innovator / implementer conceiving and implementing a project like Vande Bharat in a diversity country like India while he was on the rolls of Central Railways. He completed this monumental project within 18 months period before he attained his superannuation. He spoke about the Idea of Most Innovative Rail Technology being conceived & implemented within 18 months period.

The next session was conducted by Mr. D. Sivanandan who was the former Police Commissioner of Mumbai, promoted as part of the aftermath of the November 2008 Mumbai attacks. He is India’s one of the most well-known and highly respected Indian Police Service (IPS) officers. He is a speaker par excellence and believes that application of common sense is the need of the hour today. He narrated the rugged / challenging life of police force and positively coming out as a winner.

The next speaker was Ms. Virali Modi, India’s First Wheelchair Using Model, TED x speaker, motivational speaker, influencer, and disability rights activist and BBC 100 Women 2017. She spoke on the topic ‘How to Find Strength in Difficult Times’. Having experienced struggles & challenges all through her life, the speaker spooke about the enormous level of Grit / Resilience she possessed to turn adversities to advantage.

The final session was a Panel Discussion namely “Don’t provide value to people; make people valuable”. It was chaired by Dr. R. Chandran, Executive Director, Pillai Institute of Management Studies & Research. The elite panelists are listed below.

The take away from the Management Leadership Conclave was massive. All speakers reiterated that Leadership is a Philosophy, Attitude & a Way of Life.
