Industry Visit is part of classroom to corporate connection. It is in sync with industry-academia collaboration. Management Students under the leadership of Prof. Subhendu Bhattacharya had an opportunity on 7th October 2026 to Visit Globicon Terminals based in Nhava Sheva, Navi Mumbai which is running its Container Freight Station(CFS) service since 2017. Globicon is 13 km away from Jawaharlal Nehru Port and 7km from national highway NH4B and setting high standard in providing logistics and warehousing solutions. The CFS extends its services in EXIM Services, Consolidation and De-consolidation of Cargo, Bonded Cargo, Hazardous cargo. There are digital initiatives like use of OCR technology and GPS enabled Reach- Stackers. CFS acts as an interface between the port, customs, shipping lines, freight forwarders, transporters, exporters, and importers. Its major contribution is to facilitate cargo consolidation, customs clearance, container handling, temporary storage, documentation, and efficient inland movement of goods. Situated at a strategic location from the Port, to ensure timely movement, there is the dedicated team of professionals at Globicon, who continuously are tracking the movement of the boxes and interacting with the Port officials for evacuation of boxes to the facility. Globicon now offers SEZ-enabled warehousing solutions designed to help businesses optimize working capital, streamline global trade operations, and gain long-term cost efficiencies—fully aligned with Indian customs and SEZ regulations.
In this industry visit Dr. Sameer Shaikh, HR & Marketing Head, Eepsitaa Skilledge Pvt. Ltd and faculty and administrative members of Pillai HOC Institute of Management Studies and Pillai University School of Business such as Prof. Chiranjiv and Ms. Beena Gaikwad and students of MMS studies with Operation Specialization participated. All had a chance to interact with CEO of Globicon Mr. Salim Shikalgar who addressed students to outline the requirements of logistics company and preparedness for the same. Prof. Subhendu and Prof. Sameer also appealed to students about gaining knowledge in domain area, skill development, technological aptitude and employability enhancement to tap the opportunity available in ever expanding logistics and supply chain management.
