As part of the MBA Orientation Programme for the newly admitted students of the 2026–28 batch, Pillai College organised an experiential learning activity titled “Chakraview”. The activity was conducted for students from all divisions between 14th July and 25th July 2026. Each division participated in a two-hour session consisting of group-based management games. The purpose of the activity was to help students interact with one another, develop team spirit, improve communication, and understand the practical application of management concepts.
The session began with the formation of groups and introductory group activities. These activities enabled the students to become familiar with their classmates and encouraged them to participate actively. Students from different backgrounds worked together and gradually developed a sense of comfort, cooperation, and belonging. The initial group interaction also helped create an energetic and positive learning environment for the remaining activities.
The first management game conducted was “Market the Movie.” In this activity, the students were divided into groups and asked to market a movie as a product. Each group developed a promotional idea by identifying the target audience, deciding the positioning of the movie, creating suitable taglines, and presenting a promotional campaign. The activity introduced students to important marketing concepts such as market segmentation, target-market selection, branding, positioning, consumer behavior, and promotional communication. It also encouraged students to use creativity and storytelling while presenting their ideas before the class.
The second activity was “Paper Tower Making.” In this game, each group was given paper and limited resources to construct a tower within a specified time. Students had to plan the design, distribute responsibilities, use the available resources effectively, and complete the task through cooperation. The activity helped students understand the importance of planning, organizing, leadership, delegation, resource utilization, time management, innovation, and problem-solving. It also demonstrated that effective management requires a balance between creativity, stability, feasibility, and timely execution.
The third activity was a Human Resource Management activity. This activity required the students to work together to achieve a common objective by communicating effectively, allocating responsibilities, and coordinating their efforts. It focused on team building, role clarity, interpersonal communication, leadership, motivation, cooperation, conflict management, and group decision-making. Through this activity, students understood that human resource management involves not only managing employees but also building relationships, recognizing individual strengths, encouraging participation, and creating an effective team environment.
All three activities provided students with opportunities to demonstrate leadership and initiative. Different students took responsibility for planning, communicating, presenting, coordinating, and motivating their group members. The activities also helped reveal the importance of active listening, mutual respect, role allocation, and collective decision-making. Students understood that different groups may adopt different approaches to solve the same problem and that successful outcomes depend on effective coordination among team members.
The “Chakra view” activity received enthusiastic participation from the MBA students. The students actively participated in discussions, planning, construction tasks, presentations, and group exercises. The competitive yet friendly nature of the games encouraged students to come out of their comfort zones and interact with one another. Students who were initially hesitant gradually became involved in the activities and contributed their ideas to the group.
The activity helped students connect theoretical management concepts with practical situations. Through “Market the Movie,” they understood the relevance of marketing and promotional strategies. Through “Paper Tower Making,” they experienced the importance of operations, planning, and resource management. The Human Resource activity helped them understand teamwork, leadership, motivation, and communication. Thus, the three activities together provided a balanced introduction to different functional areas of management.
The major learning outcomes of the activity included improved communication, teamwork, leadership, creativity, decision-making, problem-solving, and time-management skills. Students also developed greater confidence in expressing their views and presenting their ideas. The activity created a collaborative classroom environment and helped establish a foundation for future group projects, presentations, and academic activities during the MBA programmer.
In conclusion, the “Chakraview” Management Games were successfully conducted for the MBA students of Pillai College from 14th July to 25th July 2026 as part of the orientation programme for the 2026–28 batch. The two-hour activity in each division successfully combined marketing, operations, and human resource-based games. It made the orientation programme interactive, engaging, and meaningful while helping students understand the practical relevance of management principles. The activity also promoted confidence, creativity, cooperation, and team spirit among the newly admitted MBA students, providing them with a positive beginning to their academic journey.
