Quantitative Techniques is numerical subject which entails number crunching activities. Data is ubiquitous in digital economy. It is the task of data scientist and statistician to derive meaningful insight to do justice to available data. Industry believes and follows data driven approach. It is prerogative for budding managers to comprehend data dynamics and having strong command over data processing, analysis and interpretation. Data analysis provides the opportunity to figure out the trend and pattern in the data set. Students of MBA were taken to library under the guidance of Prof. Subhendu Bhattacharya to Pillai Management Library to do analytical exercise for two days 19th October and 22nd October, 2026. Students were given business oriented newspapers such as Economic Times, Business Standard, Financial Express, Mint, Business Line etc. and asked to scan newspaper and track news articles replete with statistical data and analysis. The task was to read news articles at length and write summarized version of the news article in bullet points. Along with comprehending the case in news articles students were asked to detect analysis pattern such as descriptive and inferential in the narratives. Students became familiar of reporting style, data presentation art, and way of describing facts from business, trade, commerce and economy.
