A Session on “Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) for Small Business Units and Market Promotion through Promotional Bodies.” was organised by IIC of PIMSR in association with IWFCi India National Chapter on 14th October 2025 at 12 noon for student entrepreneurs of Pillai College. The aim of the session was to educate the students on Global Trade and Foreign trade policy for SBU’s. The Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) provides vital support to small business units by promoting exports, simplifying trade procedures, and enhancing competitiveness. It encourages MSMEs to explore global markets through initiatives like RoDTEP, EPCG, and district export hubs. The FTP emphasizes digital platforms, ease of documentation, and capacity building to help small enterprises access international buyers. Market promotion is driven by Export Promotion Councils (EPCs), Commodity Boards, and apex bodies like FIEO, which facilitate trade fairs, buyer-seller meets, and branding initiatives. Together, these efforts help small business units expand their global reach, improve product visibility, and boost India’s export performance. Key discussions included export incentives, schemes supporting MSMEs, and the role of various export promotion councils and organizations in expanding global market reach. Students actively engaged in discussions and shared thoughtful insights on practical applications. The session was highly interactive, with students showing great enthusiasm and eagerness to learn about the opportunities available for small businesses under India’s FTP. Overall, the session proved to be informative and inspiring. The benefit of the session was that it enhanced students’ awareness of international trade prospects for small enterprises. 43 students and one IIC member attended the session.
