On 29th August 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC) of PIMSR organized an Idea Showcase for First Year MMS students at the PIMSR Incubation Center. The session was conducted by Mr. Shiva Pradeep, Assistant Mechanical Engineer, with the objective of bridging the gap between classroom knowledge and practical applications by introducing students to advanced printing technologies such as laser printing, 3D printing, and ink printing. The purpose of this activity was to provide experiential learning, enabling students to understand the working principles of these technologies, their industrial applications, and the entrepreneurial opportunities they offer.
Mr. Pradeep explained the mechanism of laser printing, emphasizing the importance of resolution, thickness control, and professional applications. He also highlighted the differences between traditional ink printing and modern 3D/laser printing, showing how they complement each other in design and modeling. Students witnessed a live showcase of innovative 3D printed models and award-winning projects created under his mentorship, gaining insights into the journey from idea conceptualization to error correction and final outputs. The session further emphasized that printing technologies extend far beyond academics and hold vast potential for startups and business ventures across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, education, and design. Mr. Pradeep encouraged students to think creatively about innovation, cost efficiency, material selection, and durability in building printing-related enterprises.
With active participation from 56 students, faculty members, and IIC representatives, the program effectively combined technology, creativity, and entrepreneurship. The learning outcome of this activity was that students gained awareness of modern printing technologies, their industrial relevance, and entrepreneurial scope. They were also motivated to apply innovative thinking and connect theoretical knowledge with practical applications for future projects.
