The Women Development Cell of the Pillai Group of Institutions in association with Soroptimist International Bombay Chembur celebrated Women’s Equality Day on 29th August, 2023 by felicitating two dynamic young women who charted a different path and made a mark in careers that traditionally belong to men.

Major Priyanka is the Co-Founder and Head of Marketing at VISOL Renewable Energy Solutions, a solar consulting & EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) Company providing turnkey solutions for solar power plants and promoting clean and green energy. Her Company’s Purpose is aligned to her own life purpose that is to be a Catalyst in making India a Developed Nation.She is a Bachelor of Architecture. After seven years of Army Service, she went on to complete an Executive Management Program from IIM Indore and MBA (Operations) from IMT, Ghaziabad. She is a member of Rotary International and involved in various social initiatives.

Ms. Tetgure is an Assistant Loco Pilot who has worked on goods, mail express and passenger trains on theRatnagiri-Roha-Ratnagiri and Ratnagiri- Madgaon-Ratnagiri sections since 2018. She has a BE degree from Finolex Academy of Management and Technology in the branch of Electronics and Telecommunication. Her work involves assisting the loco pilot while driving the train, calling out signal aspects, watching the caution orders, looking out for any abnormality in loco and online like track defect or jerk, keeping eye on safety measures and attending the minor repairs of the locomotive.

Both women inspired an audience of students and teachers with their life stories and made a passionate case for gender equality in all spheres of life and work. 120 students and 5 faculty members attended the session.
